In 2005, RSC developed Project Literacy, a reading tutor program for our local elementary schools. The goal is to bring volunteers into the schools to assist emergent readers. In partnership with Pasco Schools, you will provide leadership to this important volunteer engagement effort. Project Literacy is a program where volunteers spend as little as 30 minutes a week reading to or being read to by a student, helping them build their skills and their confidence.
Want to be a volunteer?
Regional Service Corps-AmeriCorps wants to connect heroes in our community with classrooms that need their help. In connection with the Pasco School District, RSC matches volunteers with students. Learning to read takes practice. The more students practice with a mentor, the more they learn. All we ask for is a positive attitude.
By getting involved you will gain experience while making a difference. Success in school and life starts with reading, which is why Project Literacy is so important. Be a HERO … volunteer!
